Incorporated in 1984, Moreno Valley is located in a region referred to as the "Inland Empire," which occupies parts of Riverside and San Bernardino Counties. Moreno Valley is a little over an hour east of Los Angeles. Moreno Valley has a semi-arid climate, with hot summers and pleasant winters. Average daily temperatures in July and August are in the 90s. In the winter months, residents enjoy temperatures in the 60s. The city receives less than ten inches of rain a year. The March Air Reserve base is located between Moreno Valley and Riverside. The base is used by Air Force's 452d Air Mobility Wing, California Air National Guard's 163d Air Refueling Wing and Montana's 120th Fighter Wing. Arts and Entertainment Moreno Valley's notable entertainment and leisure attractions include: The CrossWinds Community Theatre. The March Field Air Museum. The Inland Empire is home to many other attractions, including three major mountain resorts: Mountain High in Wrightwood, Big Bear and Lake Arrowhead. Residents are also not far from all of the arts and entertainment offerings of Los Angeles to the west. For sports fans, nearby Los Angeles is home to the Los Angeles Avengers of the Arena Football League (AFL), Major League Baseball's (MLB) Los Angeles Dodgers, two Major League Soccer (MLS) teams - Club Deportivo Chivas USA and the Los Angeles Galaxy, the NBA's Los Angeles Clippers and Lakers, the LA Kings of the National Hockey League (NHL) and the WNBA's Los Angeles Sparks. The Inland Empire is also home to the California Speedway in Fontana, California.
